Hyundai is gearing up to introduce a new variant of the Tucson in Pakistan, likely a hybrid all-wheel-drive model, further intensifying competition in the SUV segment.
This development comes amid a wave of automotive activity in early 2025, with multiple new vehicles already launched, including the Kia Sportage L, GuGo Box EV, JAC T9 Hunter, MG HS Trophy, and Isuzu D-Max.
The possibility of a hybrid Tucson surfaced in December 2024 when the model was spotted in the country. At the time, Hyundai Nishat Motors stated it was a privately imported unit and not tied to an official rollout.
However, industry watchers expected the company to follow up with a new offering, especially after the arrival of key rivals like the Sportage L.
Hyundai has now signaled its intent through an official teaser shared on social media, describing “unstoppable power” and “groundbreaking efficiency,” while confirming that the “Hyundai All-Wheel Drive Hybrid is almost here.” This strongly points to the imminent launch of a hybrid, AWD Tucson.
Sources indicate that the upcoming model is expected to be based on the latest global generation of Tucson, potentially featuring a hybrid powertrain, multiple terrain modes, and a long-wheelbase variant for added interior space. Alongside performance upgrades, the Tucson Hybrid is expected to offer an extensive suite of safety and driver assistance technologies.
Confirmed features from internal sources include front, side, and curtain airbags; ABS; Electronic Stability Control (ESC); Hill-Start Assist Control (HAC); and Downhill Brake Control (DBC). The vehicle also includes Multi-Collision Brake, Trailer Stability Assist (TSA), and a Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS).
Child safety features comprise ISOFIX anchors (upper and lower) in the rear seats and manual child locks.
For advanced driver assistance, the Tucson Hybrid is expected to include Smart Cruise Control (SCC) with Stop & Go, Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA), Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist (BCA), Lane Keeping Assist (LKA), Lane Following Assist (LFA), and Manual Speed Limit Assist (MSLA). Additional convenience and safety systems include Rear Occupant Alert (ROA), Rear View Monitor (RVM) with dynamic parking guidance, Reverse Parking Collision-Avoidance Assist, and Parking Distance Warning for both forward and reverse directions.
The vehicle is also likely to feature a Surround View Monitor (SVM) with cameras covering forward, side, and rear angles, along with a Blind-Spot View Monitor (BVM), further enhancing situational awareness for drivers.
If launched with these specifications, the Tucson Hybrid would stand out as a high-tech, fuel-efficient SUV and expand choices for Pakistani consumers in the hybrid segment, while strengthening Hyundai’s competitive position in the market.
