Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has approved the establishment of the first-ever ‘sahulat-on-the-go bazaars’ across the province, aiming to provide convenient access to essential goods.
During a meeting, the Chief Minister reviewed the project, which is set to launch with a pilot in 14 locations across Lahore.
The proposed locations for the pilot project include Multan Road, Hanjarwal, Manga Mandi, Raiwind, G-1 Market, Faisal Town, Moon Market, and Bedian Road. Additional areas such as E-Millat Road, Gulshan Ravi, Shahdara, Shadman, and Singh Pura will also be part of the initiative. The bazaars will feature uniform cottage-top shops offering food items and essential edibles along the roadsides.
The Chief Minister has set a target of four months for the pilot project’s launch, with the goal of expanding the initiative to every tehsil in Punjab. Government land will be utilized to establish the ‘sahulat-on-the-go bazaars,’ and 816 stalls will be set up in Lahore as part of the initial phase.
The meeting also highlighted the success of model bazaars during Ramazan, with Punjab Model Bazaar Management Company Chairman Muhammad Afzal Khokhar providing a progress report to the Chief Minister.
